Saving the world
one bee at a time
‘The bee is more honored than other animals, not because she labors, but because she labors for others.’
-St. John Chrysostom

Our Story
I say ‘our’ story because even though at this time it is only myself that operates all aspects of this business, I have some help, first and foremost God and the bees themselves. I also get a ton of support from family and friends.
So, how did Bee-Utiful Bees get started you ask? The idea started about 2 years ago. I was serving on a mission trip with my church. When we were in Guatemala building homes for widowed and abandoned women, every time I go there (that was my 6th trip serving this mission) I find myself so amazed at the resilience of people. I came across some villagers that had bees. And I was so impressed with how resourceful they were.
That prompted me to pray about something different than normal. I asked God to reveal to me something I could do to help the planet, teach me how to better recognize significance where it is often overlooked, and to try and build something to leave for my children. While praying and fasting for the path to travel, God kept putting bees in everywhere I traveled and everything that I came across. While listening to the voice of God and knowing how allergic my husband was, I didn’t have a clue on what to do with bees. When talking to my longest and closest friend, Amanda, I I asked her about the idea of having a bee farm on her property. Then that’s when we decided to attend a bee school. I felt like I was being called to this. I was almost certain God was revealing to me in so many ways that this was a journey I needed to embark on.
Once I finished the class, I needed to figure out how to convince my husband to let me have bees. Therefore, this would be no easy task. And to my surprise he told me if I could find somewhere to put them, then I could get some bees. I was so excited. And again I prayed. Not too long after that I was graciously offered a place to put the bees. This further instilled that God is making a way for me to do this.
I started with just 2 hives. And while it’s a small start, even the bee is mighty and resilient despite its size. So, now like the bee I try to be resilient and pray and grow. I am so thankful to share my story with you!!
I hope you enjoy your visit with me and the bees! I invite you to try some of the wonders of their hard work.
